AEM Representatives Named to U.S. Trade Advisory Committees
Equipment Manufacturing Industry Provides Input to Policy Makers
Darrin Drollinger and Nick Yaksich of the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) have been named to serve on federal level Industry Trade Advisory Committees (ITACs), which are public-private partnerships designed to ensure industry input into U.S. trade policy negotiations.
The ITACS were established under the Trade Act of 1974 and are jointly administered by the U.S. Department of Commerce and the United States Trade Representative (USTR).
Drollinger is AEM's Vice President for Technical and Safety Services and serves on the Industry Trade Advisory Committee on Standards and Technical Trade Barriers (ITAC 16).
Yaksich is the association's Vice President for Global Public Policy and serves on the Industry Trade Advisory Committee on Automotive Equipment and Capital Goods (ITAC 2).
AEM has a long history of participation on U.S. trade committees, in recognition of the importance of the off road equipment manufacturing industry to the U.S. and world economies, and the association's role as a global industry leader. Association members manufacture construction, agricultural, forestry, mining and utility related equipment, products and services.
The ITACs offer policy and technical advice, information, and recommendations regarding trade barriers, trade agreement negotiations and implementation of existing trade agreements affecting their industry sectors. They are required to provide reports to the President, the USTR, and Congress on trade agreements, and must include an advisory opinion on whether the agreements provide for equity and reciprocity within a sectoral or functional area.
Drollinger and Yaksich had previously served on ITACs and their current appointments are for four-year terms expiring February 2010.
