Hey Fred!
Hey Fred,
After searching for months to find the right project management software, we came up with two possibilities. We were leaning towards Company 1st Choice because it appears to offer better features and more flexibility. But I just got off the phone with the salesman from Company 2nd Choice and he said their competitor is having financial troubles and “will be out of business” in the near future. We spoke to some reference clients from Company 1st Choice and they are all totally happy with the software and support. Now I don't know what - or who - to believe. What should I do?
Donna
Hey Donna,
No wonder you are confused! But rather than place your suspicions on Company 1st Choice, I would first wonder why Company 2nd Choice is bad-mouthing the competition. Is it because they cannot promote the advantages of their own system? You should also ask yourself, “Do I want to do business with a company that has to resort to mud-slinging to win a sale?” That said, you certainly want to make sure you are partnering with a company that will be around for a long time. I would call the vendor and give them the opportunity to dispute these claims. You might also want to call additional references or ask professionals, such as business analysts or IT consultants with construction expertise, for their opinion on the company in question. In short, it's good to be thorough in your research. At the same time, beware of unprofessional and negative tactics… or you just may end up with a vendor who treats you the same way!
